Advertising: Uses of visual artists' copyrights are classified as Advertising when works are used to promote a service or product other than the works themselves, the artist, or an exhibition that includes the works. Suggested royalty rates for Commercial uses of works are also included in this section.
Exhibition - Advertising / Commercial - This category applies to exhibitions taking place within the framework of a commercial trade fair, salon or convention not principally dedicated to the sale of the work itself. Rates apply to exhibitions of both original works of art and reproductions of artworks. Rates include exhibition and reproduction rights for one exhibition up to 6 months in duration.
Audio-Visual Reproduction - Advertising / Commercial - This category applies to Trailers or Advertisements (Cinema, Television) and can include broadcast rights for such uses. The rates are based on the role assigned to the work reproduced (either in a central role or as an isolated element), the duration of appearance, and apply to both fixed and moving images. The category also applies to Projections or Walls of Images presented in a promotional or public relations context. The rates are based on the number of images contributed by an artist and the frequency and duration of the presentation; broadcast rights are not included.
Internet - All uses of a work of art on the internet are considered advertising if the uses are not principally for the promotion of the work itself, the artist, or a collection or exhibition of which the work is part (for these rates, please use see Reproductions).
Print Reproduction - Advertising / Commercial - This category includes advertising in magazines, journals, newspapers and other periodicals, cards, postcards, invitations and greeting cards that are produced for commercial or advertising purposes, advertising brochures, posters, panels, commercial or advertising calendars, agendas, objects bearing reproductions, packaging and so on. Category: Central Role - The reproduction is featured with a central role in the trailer or advertisement. The reproduction may be a moving or fixed (still) image.
Isolated Element - The reproduction appears as an element of the trailer or advertisement but it is not featured. Work may appear in the foreground, as a significant part of the advertisement, or the background, as decoration. The reproduction may be a moving or fixed (still) image.
Fixed Images - the images are presented in advertising and promotional contexts that do not include broadcast or simultaneous presentation in multiple locations. The fees apply to one program only repeated over a specified period of time.
