Ratification of agreement with National Gallery

NGC Vote-squareNegotiations with the National Gallery of Canada in November were successful and we have come to an historic agreement in principle.

The next step is for members to vote on this agreement so that it can be made official.

Not a CARFAC member yet? You can participate in the vote if you join by December 19th.

In January, members will receive a web link by email to the full agreement as well as a guide to what it all means.

All CARFAC members in good standing will receive a voter card in the mail in January along with return postage.

If you are a CARFAC member and have not received an email or a phone call about the vote, please contact us as soon as possible to check that we have your correct contact information.

All CARFAC members, whether you have worked with the National Gallery or not, are encouraged to vote for three reasons:

  1. We want your input
  2. A minimum voter turnout is required for the agreement to be valid
  3. We would like this agreement to serve as an example for other galleries so that all artists will benefit from improved working conditions

We will be sharing highlights with members by email after December 8th when the National Gallery’s board ratifies the agreement.

For artists in Quebec, the ratification process will be managed by le Regroupement des artistes en arts visuels du Québec – RAAV. Details will be posted on RAAV’s website.
