We are proud to announce the launch of Buy Authentic, an educational campaign developed by CARFAC National to support ethical engagement with Indigenous Art and Artists in Canada, supported by Canadian Heritage.

In response to the widespread circulation of inauthentic, culturally appropriated Indigenous-style products and fraudulent creators, this campaign offers tools for consumers, retailers, and Indigenous creatives to make informed, respectful decisions. 

Authenticity is not a trend. It is relational. It is grounded in community, accountability, and lived experience.

This work brings forward Indigenous Artist voices, practical guidance, and shared responsibilities to support Indigenous cultural expression and protection of artists’ livelihoods.

The intent of sharing these campaign materials is to foster personal awareness and ethical consideration when making purchasing decisions, rather than to interrogate artists.
