CARFAC Announces Departure of Executive Director After 20 Years of Service

For two decades our Executive Director, April Britski, has been a driving force behind our mission, our growth, and our community here at CARFAC. Today, we share the bittersweet news that she will be leaving to pursue new opportunities.

We are deeply grateful for her vision, passion, and decades of service that helped shape our organization into what it is today. During her tenure, April has led transformative initiatives, strengthened our mission, and built a lasting legacy. We are immensely thankful for her service and leadership. During her time at CARFAC, April has been a key figure in the success of so much advocacy work and programming. She has contributed countless hours to the Artist’s Resale Right which recently has been included in the Federal Budget with much of that success coming from April’s efforts. April has been equally committed to the expansion of the Fee Schedule throughout her time, which has grown to include a Public Art toolkit, consistent additions to existing sections, and appropriate increases to accommodate post-pandemic economic changes. In 2015, CARFAC and RAAV ratified the first scale agreement with the National Gallery of Canada - this was a pivotal success for CARFAC, and April was a crucial element to this success. In tandem, April has led on the creation and expansion of so much programming, including countless workshops and webinars, Artist Taxation resources, AI advocacy and information, and so many more. While doing so, she has built international connections and organizational collaborations that will continue on for years to come. We are immeasurably proud of how April has represented CARFAC on a national and international scale, for she has made an impact that will last for decades more.

“Serving in this role has been one of the biggest honours of my life. I am deeply proud of what we have achieved together: advancing public policies that strengthen artists' rights, negotiating milestone agreements, and building partnerships that support a vibrant visual arts sector. Thank you for the opportunity to serve this remarkable organization and community. It has been a privilege to work alongside you in advancing artists’ rights from coast to coast to coast.”
- April Britski, outgoing Executive Director

April’s dedication, enthusiasm, and heart will surely be missed here at CARFAC. Please join us in thanking April for an incredible 20 years working with us and wishing her the very best on this next chapter.
